What to Expect

Curious about our services? Learn what to expect when you book a counselling or therapy session at The Support Hub. We’re here to help.

Starting therapy can be a meaningful and sometimes challenging step. We are here to support you and make this transition as smooth as possible.

For Therapy

Initial Assessment

We will provide you with Intake Forms to complete. Your first few sessions, will focus on understanding your background, current issues and goals for therapy. This allows us to get a sense of who you are and what you wish to achieve.

Building Rapport

It is important to establish a trusting relationship with your practitioner. It may take some time to feel comfortable opening up, but that is perfectly normal.

Setting Goals

You and your practitioner will work together to create specific and manageable goals. These goals will guide your work together and help to measure your progress.

Exploring Feelings and Thoughts

Sessions will often include discussing and reflecting on your thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

Developing Coping Strategies

Together, we will work at developing new skills and coping mechanisms as a way to address your concerns. These might include managing stress, improving relationships, or changing negative thought patterns.

Patience & Persistence

Progress in counselling can be gradual. Some sessions might feel more productive than others, and that’s okay. Consistency and patience are key.

Feedback

Don’t hesitate to give feedback to your practitioner about what is or isn’t working for you. Counselling is a collaborative process, and your input is valuable.
